from Amy Macemon, Racine Urban Garden Network
Thank you for volunteering to help expand Emmaus community garden this Saturday! The build out will take place on the south end of the Emmaus Lutheran Church’s property, 1925 Summit Ave., this Saturday, May 3. The volunteer time-frame is from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you can make it the whole time, great! If not, any time given would be appreciated!
The build out will consist of laying cardboard over the designated community garden area, covering that area with approximately 1 ft. of mulch & constructing 4×10′ raised beds which will then be placed in the community garden area. We did plan to also fill them with compost; but due to the rain, we were unable to get it delivered.
The church will provide lunch, as they will be hosting their annual festival! If you have a cordless drill, we would appreciate you bringing it along- otherwise, all tools & gloves will be provided.
If you have any questions or have trouble finding the area, feel free to call my cell at 262-989-5520.
Thanks again for helping us out! We’re are very excited to add this addition to our network of urban community gardens!
