Congregations from five Racine ELCA churches will come together for a joint Pentecost worship this Sunday, May 27 at 10:30 a.m. on the grounds of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at the corner of Washington and Taylor Avenues. If the weather forecast holds up, we plan to worship outdoors.
Participating churches are Atonement Lutheran Church (East and West), Emmaus Lutheran Church (Anglo and Latino), Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, St. Andrew Lutheran Church, and Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Musicians from each of the congregations and a mass children’s choir will lead hymns and praise songs. Emaús’s Aztec dancers will interpret scripture through the art of dance. Glossolalians will read the story of the birth of the Christian church in many languages, echoing the experience of those who first heard “God’s deeds of power.”
Come and hear the powerful message as preached by Pastor Ron Ballew and interpreted by Pastor Jhon Freddy Correa. Come and join sisters and brothers in faith. Come to share the meal—first Holy Communion and then a potluck picnic on the grounds at noon. Hotdogs and drinks will be provided; bring a dish to share. Some chairs will be available, but you are invited to bring picnic chairs of your own. Come and be a part of a Spirit filled worship that will have the neighborhood talking.
